  • Overview

    The Sales Tax Accountant reports to the Revenue Accounting Manager and is responsible for monthly general ledger close activities, balance sheet reconciliations, tax return filings and income statement and balance sheet analysis.


    • Prepare journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations and other schedules for the month-end close
    • Prepare monthly account analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts
    • Prepare sales tax, PUC and GRT returns; file and remit by the assigned due dates
    • Review the Company’s billings and tax collections
    • Research sales tax rates, rules, regulations and reporting requirements in multiple states and taxing jurisdictions
    • Support the yearly financial audit by providing information to the auditors as needed
    • Create and maintain desk procedures
    • Other projects as assigned


    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting
    • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel experience is required
    • Multi state utility and telecommunication sales and use tax knowledge a strong plus
    • Foreign tax experience and strong plus
    • Enterprise resource planning (ERP) system knowledge is required. Oracle experience is a plus
    • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing responsibilities and multi-tasking
    • Ability to work and manipulate large data files
    • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and accounting theory
    • Understanding of all accounting functions and related internal controls, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and inventory
    • Well-defined analytical and auditing skills; able to research and reconcile difficult accounts and transactions
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus and positive attitude
    • Detail oriented, organized and able to meet assigned deadlines
    • Proactive and independent
    • Flexible and enthusiastic
