  • Overview

    The Middle Office Analyst reports to the Manager of Middle Office and primarily supports the key functions of Middle Office and Back Office as part of a small team with a high level of responsibility. Middle Office and Back Office directly support various accounting and wholesale energy purchasing functions; however, groups across the organization frequently rely on reporting that begins with this team.


    The ideal candidate thinks a few steps ahead and can balance attention to detail with meeting deadlines. This person communicates clearly, can adapt to sudden changes in priorities, and is not easily overwhelmed. This position is a crucial part of a small group, so success in this role will require both an individual commitment to quality and well-developed teamwork skills.  A solid foundation in Excel with the ability to use a variety of formulas is a must.


    The Reporting Analyst is responsible for gathering data from a multitude of sources, organizing the data for further reporting needs, and assisting the team with daily reporting processes.  This position is primarily responsible to:

    • Maintain several types of internal records using data collected from an array of utilities, partners, and vendors over varying frequencies. Information gathered will consist mostly of pricing and usage details specific to each source.
    • Reconcile certain types of energy trade confirmations with both internal records and external sources to ensure trade details are uniformly recorded internally and with trading counterparties.
    • Prepare and analyze a suite of daily position and risk reports to ensure compliance with internal hedging policies and support purchasing decisions.
    • Complete ad hoc projects either independently or within multi-departmental teams.


    • Prefer candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a technical field
    • Prefer candidates with experience working in wholesale or retail energy environment
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to confidently deliver tailored messages to suit specific audiences within the organization
    • Ability to write and interpret formulas in Excel using intermediate math skills is required; experience with pivot tables and more advanced features is preferred
